Reception 2026: Beginning Your St Michael’s Adventure – Joining Our School Family

Welcome to the St. Michaels Family!

I am absolutely delighted to extend a very warm welcome to you and your child as you join our school family in September 2026! This is such a special milestone, and we feel genuinely privileged that you have chosen our school to begin this important stage of your child’s journey.

Our school is built on a strong foundation of inclusion, care, and mutual respect. We pride ourselves on really getting to know each child as an individual—celebrating their unique strengths, interests, and personalities. Our dedicated and caring staff work closely together to create a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued, and happy. After all, the most important people in our school are your children, and everything we do centres around them.

We recognise that starting school is a big step for the whole family—not just the children! It often comes with a mixture of excitement, pride, and perhaps just a few nerves (for adults as well as children!). Please be reassured that we are here to support you every step of the way. Our door is always open, and we warmly encourage you to ask questions, share concerns, or simply have a chat with any member of staff—especially me!

We are genuinely excited to begin this journey with you. It is a real joy and privilege to watch children grow during their time with us—not only academically, but socially and personally too. We love seeing children develop in confidence, form friendships, discover new interests, and grow into the wonderfully unique individuals they are meant to be—and we celebrate every step of that journey.

As a school, we are always striving to improve, develop, and grow, and this is something we aim to instil in every child. We encourage our pupils to embrace learning with confidence, understanding that mistakes are a natural and important part of the process (and something we all make from time to time!). Guided by our Christian values, particularly forgiveness, we support children in learning from their experiences and in showing kindness, understanding, and compassion towards others.

Thank you once again for placing your trust in us. We are so pleased that you are joining our school family and very much look forward to welcoming you and your child soon—ready for lots of learning, laughter, and memorable moments ahead.

We can't wait to "formally" meet you all!

💙 The beginning of a very special friendship! 💙 Thursday 2nd July!

This afternoon, our new Reception children met their Year 6 buddies for the very first time. From September, each Reception child will be paired with a Year 6 buddy who will help them settle into school life, share new experiences together, walk to church, read together, and be a friendly face throughout the year.

It was wonderful to see them getting to know each other today—the beginning of an exciting new chapter and some very special friendships! 🌟📚

A Positive Start to School Life Induction Days July 2026.

Starting school is an exciting milestone, and we know that a positive transition is key to helping children feel happy, confident and ready to learn.

Our transition sessions help children become familiar with their new classroom, teachers, friends and daily routines, including lunchtime, so they feel confident and settled before September. We also provide additional sessions for children with additional needs, ensuring every child receives the support they need.

Regular Parent and Carer Workshops for Reception Throughout the Year

We have regular parent workshops in school. Here is the Autumn term phonics workshop!
