Inclusion: Every Child Belongs, Every Child Thrives

At our school, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every child deserves to feel valued, supported and challenged to achieve their very best.
We are committed to meeting the needs of all learners by:
  • Providing high-quality teaching that is inclusive and ambitious for every child.
  • Identifying needs early and working closely with families and outside agencies to ensure the right support is in place.
  • Adapting teaching and providing appropriate interventions so that pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) can access a broad and balanced curriculum and make strong progress.
  • Ensuring pupils with additional needs are fully included in all aspects of school life, developing confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.
  • Providing appropriate challenge and enrichment for pupils who demonstrate high attainment or particular talents, enabling them to deepen their knowledge, develop their skills and fulfil their potential.
  • Celebrating every child's strengths, interests and achievements, recognising that success looks different for every learner.
Our aim is to create a learning environment where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish academically, socially and emotionally. By working in partnership with families, we ensure that all pupils—whether they need additional support, greater challenge or both—receive the opportunities they need to succeed.
Every child. Every opportunity. Every success.

Inclusion or inclusive practice can be defined as attitudes and methods that ensure all learners can access mainstream education. Everyone works to make sure a learners feel welcme and valued, and that they get the right support to help them develop their talents and achieve  their goals. When education is truly inclusive it can actually benefit all learners, not just those children with additional or special needs.

At St Michael and All Angels we work extremely hard to make all of our policies, practices and curriculum fully inclusive. We are determined to give all of our children exactly what they need to thrive and learn.

Inclusion means different things for different children.  It can be a simple as a pencil grip to help your child with their handwriting, to having specialist provision to help your child learn.

This is the language we use in school.
